A debut novel that packs a swashbuckling punch with its take on the desperation that leads to piracy and love on the high seas.

Tawna Fenske debuts with her contemporary romance novel; Making Waves, a novel that follows a vibrant cast of characters using desperate measures to obtain the unbelievable. So full of energy and fast-paced fun, this novel is the sort you simply have to finish in one sitting. Tawna Fenske twists characters into unthinkable plots and commands a reader's attention with unforgettable people and a captivating storyline, well worth the read.

Characters Come to Life in Tawna Fenske's Making Waves

The most piercing aspect of this novel are the characters first and foremost. Though unrealistic, these characters are the true gems of the story, not the diamonds they set out to heist. The quirky Juli Flynn is the heroine of Making Waves, and a real 'weird' character, as are they all. To round up the cast alongside Juli, readers are introduced to a group of misfit corporates that are as unusual as they are lovable.

Alex Bradshaw is the brains of the outfit and throughout the novel will become the most relatable and sympathetic character. Readers will be able to sense his desperation, his need to succeed and his disappointment with the life he has led. Also taking part in this enigmatic book is a body-building woman named Phyllis, Jake; an awkward and doughy hulk of a man, and a gay pro-football player named Cody, or rather Cookie as he would like to be called.

With all their faults and incredulous characteristics, this unpredictable band of pirates worm their way into your heart and become friends you can't wait to hang out with time and time again. The dialogue between the characters, and the extraordinary circumstances they find themselves in had me laughing out loud in the most literal sense. Making Waves is certainly a fun fluffy read perfect to round out your summer or keep your spirits high right into the winter.

Romance on a High Seas Adventure in the Modern World

The plot of Making Waves is utterly sensational and entirely unique. Full of surprises, the storyline will take you where you never imagined you would go, introduce you to people you can't even imagine and shock your socks right off your feet. Immediately the story seems unimaginable when a group of office workers decide to become pirates to get what they feel they deserve. Stowing away with them is the most atypical woman anyone could every conjure out of the most unconventional section of their mind.

Together they set out on the wildest ride of their lives, battling through an adventure wrought with danger of every imaginable and unimaginable kind. Because the story is so farfetched, you simply won't be able to keep the smile off your face, somehow it just all pulls together to create something entirely entertaining. Tawna Fenske has written a debut novel that is so completely unpredictable, I can only hope to predict another hit from her in the future.
