An erotic romance that is rockin' with action and a plot line that keeps you on your toes, Rock Hard is the quintessential chick lit novel.

Olivia Cunning debuted with a novel that introduced readers to the rock band Sinners, and now we meet them again in book two; Rock Hard. Following the story of lead guitarist Brian (Master) Sinclair, Olivia Cunning introduces the world to a brand new side of the lead singer of Sinners, Sedric Lionheart. A story not easily forgotten, Rock Hard is a perfect example of escapist literature that colors outside of the lines and carries readers to another time and place that is far more entertaining than their own.

Sedric Lionheart of the Sinners on Tour Romance Fiction Series

The first thing worth mentioning about this book is the characters, namely the main male character Sedric Lionheart. In book one of the series, Backstage Pass, readers saw a mean side of Sed, a more dispassionate, uncaring side. Now, there are a few moments where he redeems himself, but not nearly enough to change the minds of readers who have come to know him as the cold, selfish character. Not so in Rock Hard. Here, in his own story, a new side of Sedric Lionheart shows his face, a much more likeable side that speaks for his caring, his need to protect the ones he loves, and most of all we see a sensitive side to the all around strong character.

This speaks very highly for Olivia Cunning's talent as an author. Someone who has the creative genius to bring sympathy and heartfelt love to an originally unlikable character, well that is purely wonderful. Sedric's significant other, Jessica, is not as likeable in some scenes, which makes her perfect for Sedric in many ways. Jessica has a loving, independent side that clashes with Sedric's overprotective one that causes a passionate tension between the two.

Sinners on Tour, a Rock Star Romance Series of Erotic Proportions

The tension between Jessica and Sedric is palpable in most scenes. Having been in an on again, off again relationship, the tension not only affects the couple involved but also those around them. The band, an amazingly vibrant and realistic group of characters, is ready and willing to defend their singer in any scenario possible. The plot itself is well written to incorporate how the band reacts to this relationship and how the newcomer reacts to the band. Plot twists that will take readers by surprise, provide ample scenes for Jessica to prove herself and redeem herself to the group.

The band, Sinners, is a tight knit group that won't let just anyone into their circle, especially someone who has already hurt one of their own. That sort of community provides a relatable feel to the novel, one that readers will be entertained by, and moved by at the same time. The jealousy between the characters, the tight relations between the band, the family atmosphere, all relate to the world we live in and make the characters seem ultimately more human.

Now, the greatest and most important part of this story is the romance, and there is a lot of it. Naturally, being as how the story revolves around a rock band, erotic scenes are a given. Between the two main characters, the more sensual scenes make the story. Without these delicately written scenes readers wouldn't get to see into the inner souls of the characters and how they evolve as the story progresses, which is essential. The book itself is wonderful and highly recommended, though not for the faint of heart who don't prefer the more private scenes.
