Genies in bottles really do exist in this extremely unique romance fiction novel by acclaimed author Judi Fennell.

Inspired the TV show, Judie Fennell has created a literary work of art in I Dream of Genies. Surprisingly different from the usual vampire or werewolf romance, I Dream of Genies has a fresh new take on the paranormal world. Genies, of course, take precedent in the supernatural world, though other mythical friends exist or their existence is implied in this romance fiction tale.

Judi Fennell first broke into the paranormal romance world with her Mer trilogy, a set of books based on everything mermaids. And now, she takes on genies, so it is safe to say Judi Fennell is an author who strays from the norm in her writing, yet ties it all together with her unique voice. Instead of going with the vampires and werewolves that are becoming so familiar, genies and mermaids are now given precedence over our minds and hearts.

Characters in Romantic Fiction Novel; I Dream of Genies

Naturally readers are first introduced to the mythical genie; Eden. A woman entrapped in her bottle and hanging around for someone to open it. Her only companion? A talking cat on the outside. Eden and Obo are all each other have due to their supernatural powers, her magic and his talking. Both are pretty likeable characters with faults of their own and a certain amount of entertainment in their dialogue with one another.

Another main character is Matt, a human thrown into the mix and pretty much stuck to Eden. The three of them are thrown together on a mission to free Eden and save other genies from a not-so-nice genie vizier. The villain, Faruq, is not so likeable. The entire cast of the story is nicely put together to keep the novel interesting and the entertainment levels high.

Paranormal Romance in I Dream of Genies

How can a genie and a human make a go of a relationship? Difficultly I assure you. Someone being bottled up for 2000 years, with no contact from another soul would certainly have some undeniable and uncontainable urges and desires. Judi Fennell shows the wonders and the problems with doing just that as Matt and Eden fight their blooming feelings for one another in an attempt to face reality and their inevitable differences.

But two people who make such beautiful magic together cannot be denied, and soon they face the fire of their love, while trying to remember it can not last. The dialogue between Eden and Matt is beyond humorous at times, thanks to his being a human and she a genie.

I Dream of Genies; a Romance Fiction Novel

One of the more beautiful aspects of this novel are the details. Judi Fennell describes new places in hidden worlds with a finesse that can only come from a talented author with an outstanding imagination. The practical Garden of Eden she describes in this novel is so real you can almost see the budding flowers of the Green Tea tree with it's leaves shaped in green 'T's. The creatures are also wonderfully created. Flying baby dragonlets that curl on your shoulder, silly dodo birds and messenger peacocks; all of it is a wonder to read about.

Books like I Dream of Genies are what give the meaning to escapist literature, because they literally allow you to escape from the mundane world into a brand new world you can only read about. The book is certainly a fun fluff read that doesn't quite resonate with anything in today's world, but that is what makes it so attracting to people who want something so different and unique.
